Château Cap de Faugères 2011, from the Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation under Silvio Denz’s stewardship and consultant Michel Rolland, is a striking right-bank Bordeaux blend (85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon). Poured gently, it reveals aromas of roasted blackcurrant, blackberries, cedar and olive, enlivened by peppery nuance. On the palate, ripe dark fruit melds with firm tannins and warming oak, giving way to a textured, savory finish that remains surprisingly lively for its age.
