The Montalto Single Vineyard “Tuerong” Chardonnay 2023, skilfully crafted by Simon Black in the Mornington Peninsula’s Tuerong sub-region, is a statement cool-climate Chardonnay. Whole-bunch pressed, wild-yeast fermented and matured for eleven months in French oak (≈27.8% new), it offers aromas of white peach, grapefruit and lemon curd, interwoven with flint, butterscotch and subtle cashew. The palate is glossy and poised, with juicy stonefruit, zippy citrus acidity and a core of slate-like minerality supporting a chewy mid-palate.
